OUR SERVICES

We see that support services need to be provided and the love of Christ administered though four categories of services.  The reason for this is that no longer can we afford the luxury of attacking the problems of family and community with a one-shot approach.  We are fully convinced that to address the problems, which our communities face today, we must work with every system, which surrounds us: from our own personal support systems to our governmental agencies.  We see the Members of churches and civic groups as the core resource for this mission.  With the involvement and commitment of these citizens we see that the pieces of the puzzle can be fit together when someone asks, "what in the world can I do?"

HOW DO WE FIT THE PIECES TOGETHER...WHAT DO WE PROVIDE?

PIECE 1                       THERAPEUTIC SERVICES

The Dove Center, Rock Hill, SC

 In-Office Psychotherapy

We strive to create a warm, comfortable setting where a person can feel secluded and safe as they talk about their most personal problems in strictest confidence.

Tele-Counseling

When appropriate, phone counseling is available for those who need this service.  Counseling can be provided in the complete privacy of one’s own home.

 Life Restoration Program (LRP)
DOVE SHORES, Perdido Key, Florida

Wounded Warrior Ministry-Pastor Care

Pastors and Christian leaders make mistakes, too.  But when they do their bad behavior affects whole communities.  DOVE SHORES is a program which provides on-site lodging for extended-stay, intensive counseling and restoration.  This program is not limited to Pastors but families and individuals of all walks of life

The Life Restoration Program is a therapeutic program which is intended to assist individuals, families, couples and community leaders in restoring or acquiring relational harmony and wholeness in their lives.  This is achieved by combining Biblically-sound counseling, individual self-examination and respite, under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, to bring freedom to those who are bound to lifestyles that bring disintegration of their own inner-peace and their closest relationships.

PIECE 2                 TRAINING

YOUR PLACE or OURS?  We are willing to travel to your area to provide training.  Our training is tailored to meet your needs...and the needs of your community.  Large groups limit us to lecture or seminar style training.  Small groups allow us to do in-depth work and specialized training.  Usually small groups will benefit more by coming to our facilities since we are set up for full-scale training.  We have included a list of all of our courses in this brochure, but they can be categorized into three large categories.

Interpersonal relationships

What affects our relationship with others and their relationship with us at home, at work and in society?

Community Programming

How to assess and train to meet the needs in your community.

Business and Financial Management

How to employ good sound business and financial practices in your home and organization.

PIECE 3          PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT

With the increasing need for surrogate parenting for at-risk children, the increasing needs of poor elderly and the shift of the burden for the poor from the government to the private sectors, the churches and communities will have to look at providing programming for homelessness, food and education.  We are more than ready to provide training for this!

Organizational Vision

How to develop a strategic business plan for an organization and follow it.

 Funding Strategy

Tapping into funding streams that fit the needs of your community and developing a budget.

 Governmental Systems

The Pros and Cons of working in a contractual arrangement with a government agency.

How to Start a Non-Profit Organization
The Basics

An Introduction
There is an incredible need for faith-based programming in our local communities.  The Compassion of Christ compels us to reach out to the unfortunate and oppressed.  The Church is often in a handicapped position when it comes to being able to access funds which will impact their community.  The reasons behind this are hidden from the typical view of most religious organizations.  Many times it appears that the Churches have forgotten about the needs of the less fortunate.  Because the governmental programming seems to alleviate a massive amount of human suffering, many times we, the faith-based community, think that all is well with the social helps programming of the government and do "forget" about it.

However, a cry is arising out of the state structures.  For instance, in the 1995 tax report for the state of Florida, a researcher stated "if the moral weight of religious institutions cannot be brought to bear to curb the rate of illegitimate births in our state, then in 20 years, the way of life for our citizenry will cease to exist as we know it."  Notice that emphasis was on 'religious institutions' not government programming. Though it is true that some radical political forces pushed through agenda's which alienated religious organizations from support social help causes, it is also true that states are now calling upon churches to "Help Us!"  It is an unfortunate truth that churches are ignoring the plight of the destitute among us, but that is changing.

God is moving in the hearts of clergy and laity to reach out with the hand of hope to a suffering, oppressed and dying humanity. Proof of this is that you are reading this to get information.

Basic Questions Before you Begin:

  1. You must decide if you are going to be a Church or Agency before you Begin

  2. You must decide whether you only want to operate from local Donations only or do you want to accept Grants

  3. You must decide if you want to depend on solicited financial support from churches or only be a referral source for churches

  4. You must decide if you will be solely a religious organization or a quasi-public organization (i.e. you will hold to a strong religious conviction or you will operate as a secular agency)

Basis Directions:

Based upon what you decided about the question above you will be going one of three directions. Each will require common paths, but they will split at some philosophical point.  These directions are:

  1. You will organize as a Church with charter member/contributors

  2. You will organize as a Faith-Based Agency-a Para-Church Organization

  3. You will organize as a Public Charity- A secular Social Service Agency.

Other Option

If these figures are staggering for you, then you might consider an umbrella agency for your agency/ministry.  If you can find a program with similar risk factors (i.e. housing persons, counseling only, educational only, etc.) then that agency can let you work under their 501(c)(3) exemption letter for a small fee each year or month.  this gives you the option to have someone else handle all your finances, filing requirements and legal items.  It may still cost you up to 50% of your original start-up cost but 50% savings is %50 percent savings anyway you look at it. Also, if they have their books audited, it allows you go apply for grant monies.
